Zygo Navitar is seeking a leader for our Rochester-based business segment. The Business Segment Leader will contribute to developing and implementing the overall Business Unit’s Strategic Plan, with ownership of a product line, as a key member of the senior leadership team. He/she will provide strategic leadership and will direct accountability for a component of the BU P&L, with current global product line revenue of approximately $90 million annually. He/she is expected to deliver predictable and sustainable sales and profit growth; share responsibility and accountability for the success and direction of the company; take responsibility for the financial performance of the business, including sales, profit, working capital, and on time delivery.


As the Business Segment leader, you will:

  • Deliver sustainable sales and profit growth.
  • Develop and manage the strategic business plan in support of overall divisional and corporate goals as it relates to market penetration, sales, and profit objectives.
  • Provide leadership and direction to ensure that mission critical projects are completed on time and contribute to the attainment of sales and profit targets established for the business.
  • Evaluate the existing customer base, product line and market analysis of future business opportunities and growth within the industry of manufacturing ultra precision optics and components.
  • Analyze the market to determine growth trends, market segmentation, customer requirements, and the competition’s initiatives to develop and manage the overall marketing plan as well as sales forecast.
  • Monitor trends both in established markets/applications as well as identify new opportunities/applications to apply the existing technology.
  • Drive organization optimization and workforce planning to ensure we have a robust development and succession plan; assess vulnerability and risk in the workforce and implement action plans.
  • Create and execute upon long term product roadmap utilizing both internal and external resources.
  • Partner with operations to implement lean initiatives, focusing on on-time delivery and quality.

Bachelor’s degree in engineering; MBA is desirable.

5-10 years leading teams and managing in a cross-functional, technical environment.

Some functional expertise in at least one of Sales, Marketing, and/or Product Management

Demonstrated ability to lead change initiative with, and without, direct authority.

Ability to build relationships and influence at all levels of the organization.

Solid financial and business acumen, preferably in a publicly traded company.

Solid understanding of Lean and continuous improvement initiatives.

Passion for excellence and winning mindset.

Demonstrated product knowledge and understanding of key differentiators.
