**Annual salary noted above is based on an 8 hour day and full days worked calendar. Any position that is less than a full FTE/8 hours per day or late start will be prorated accordingly.

PRE-EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENT


The successful new hire or rehired candidate will be responsible to complete and incur the fingerprinting and processing fee of $54.50 through an appropriate fingerprinting vendor and the Colorado Bureau of Investigation, within 48 hours of offer acceptance.

RESPONSIBILITIES


SUMMARY Will directly supervise a set of Jeffco schools, with a focus on coaching, supporting and supervising principals in their work to deliver on the individual school's mission and vision as well as the district strategic plan. This position will also support principals as they implement school improvement plans; effectively use data to monitor and improve student achievement; build and sustain shared leadership structures; provide direction and assistance with safety and security; develop and monitor budgets; align resources; engage families; and problem solve community and staff issues.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.

Leadership Coach: Provide personalized one-on-one leadership coaching to Principals to help them achieve both short and long term goals for their schools. Build capacity in principals to problem solve day-to-day situations; respond to issues in a timely and effective manner; and build positive and equitable school environment for both staff and students.

Principal Supervisor: Evaluate the effectiveness of Principals, providing both formal annual evaluations and ongoing informal feedback. Build internal accountability by identifying individual responsibilities and collective expectations. Provide feedback on leadership structures and decision making processes at the school. Ensure that Principals and school leaders are following district best practices for performance management, student management, curriculum implementation, and complying with state and federal law.

Strategic Leadership: Participates in the creation and implementation of Jeffco Thrives 2025 by setting long-term goals, identifying opportunities and challenges, and making decisions that align with the strategic plan. Primarily responsible for "Our Learners Our Future". Also supportive of all aspects of the plan through to combination of our instructional and operational leadership.

Data Coach: Monitor school performance through provided data tools. Coach Principals on reading and interpreting data on their schools. Coach Principals on how to use data to make sound decisions that strengthen teacher performance and student achievement. Provide feedback to IT and other departments on new data needed and improved ways to provide data.

Professional Learning Facilitator: Lead regular meetings of Principals to discuss strategic goals, new processes, and facilitate group learning. Monitor progress and effectivness of professional learning in Principals.

Community Liaison: Develop relationships with community leaders and act as a liaison between the district and the various Jeffco communities.

Crisis Manager: Support crisis/emergency management in partnership with the affected school(s) principal(s), Safety & Security, the Superintendent, and the Communications team.

Change Agent: Identify areas of future improvement for the district and provide ideas/feedback on proposed and in-place strategic initiatives to the Superintendent, Board, and other stakeholders. Explain the strategic goals behind changes and promote buy-in from Principals and their staff. Address areas of reticence and serve as a conduit if problems are discovered and need addressed.

District Leader: Serve as a bridge between principals and central administration. Model and support a healthy district culture and productive relationship between school based and central administrators and teams. Support a focused direction to build a collective purpose and reduce variability among schools. Serve on and support district-based committees whose work directly impacts schools.

Respond to Board concerns, appeals of evaluations, student and staff discipline, and community concerns that have been elevated beyond the principal.

EXPERIENCE 5 years' of experience as a principal. Demonstration of strong coaching, supervision, and strategic planning experience required.

EDUCATION AND TRAINING Bachelor's degree required. Master's degree in a related field preferred.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS Must hold a current administrator/principal license.

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, & EQUIPMENT Facilitation, conflict resolution, speaking, presentation, listening, writing, and leadership skills. Operating knowledge of technology including Google Suite and Microsoft Office software. Strong instructional knowledge and strong interpersonal skills are required to successfully do this job.

DECISION MAKING Requires extensive job knowledge, analytical skills, and human relations skills. Must understand educational issues, teaching, learning, and leadership. Must have great flexibility, common sense, an understanding of law and policy; and the ability to make sound judgements quickly. Decisions have a significant impact on communities, individuals, and the District. Errors in decision making potentially could disrupt the educational program for students; the working environment for principals and schools staffs; and the relationship between the community and the District. Could lead to negative media coverage, public distrust, and substantial embarrassment or cost to the District.

COMMUNITY RELATIONS Daily contact with classified staff and professional staff within/outside department to discuss routine internal matters, obtain/furnish information, resolve routine corrections/adjustments, maintain relationships, and negotiate controversial matters; with parents to obtain/furnish information, resolve routine corrections/adjustments, recommend policy, and negotiate controversial matters; and with business leaders to obtain/furnish information, maintain relationships, and negotiate controversial matters. Weekly contact with advisory committees and school support team to obtain/furnish information, resolve routine corrections/adjustments, interpret policy, maintain relationships, recommend policy, and negotiate controversial matters; with the administrative leadership team and the Board to obtain/furnish information, resolve routine corrections/adjustments, interpret policy, maintain relationships, recommend policy, negotiate controversial matters, and set critical policy; with citizen or patron committees, local government, and the media to obtain/furnish information maintain relationships, negotiate controversial matters, and set critical policy; and with the general public and community members to obtain/furnish information, interpret policy, maintain relationships, and negotiate controversial matters. SPAN OF CONTROL Directly supervises approximately 30 employees. Positions supervised include Principal and Administrative Assistant. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. Responsible for both budget development and accountability.

EDUCATIONAL DELIVERY Work directly with principals to implement educational programs, assist with expulsions and suspensions, and set expectations for improved student achievement. Mediate conflicts between communities and schools. Provide support services for educational technology, educational resources, staff development, and special education. Provide direct services for implementation of instructional programs; evaluation of teachers and administrators; supervision and evaluation of personnel who work with students on a regular basis; supervision of the design, delivery, or assessment of curriculum; District-level support to schools; and communication link between community and schools. Develop, maintain, and strengthen community and governmental relationships. The majority of time is spent on school sites.

COMPLEXITY OF WORK Work is assigned by the Chief of Schools as well as self-directed. Requires independent thinking, creative thinking, analytical skills, facilitation, negotiation, strategic planning, and interpretation of law and policy. Although some problem solving processes are guided by policy and procedures, many involve unique, volatile, and highly emotional situations where policies and procedures may not exist.
