Rate Of Pay: $73,000 - $78,000 | Exempt - Depending on education, experience and/or qualifications

Position Summary:

This is a professional supervisory position responsible for providing supervision and oversight over emergency screening of the Crisis Stabilization Unit (CSU) for Gainesville or Lake City which provides the first contact for persons in crisis seeking mental health, and/or addictions treatment. In addition, the Director gives input and maintains compliance of policies and procedures pertaining to emergency screening and crisis management. This position will be responsible for coordinating with other Access and Admissions leadership to support a "No Wrong Door" philosophy of care. Clinical, crisis intervention, customer service, and supervisory skills as well as the ability to multi-task are essential requirements of this position to successfully direct the team that provide services to clients through Emergency Screening. Direct reports of the Director include master's level Emergency Screeners and bachelor's (or equivalent) level Emergency Screening Coordinators. This position participates in the Administrator On-Call rotation (AOC).

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in social work, mental health or related counseling master's degree required.
  • Current Florida LCSW, LMHC, LMFT, or Licensed Psychologist required.
  • Experience with direct patient care and at least 3 years of supervisory experience in a related field required. Experience in inpatient psychiatric unit / hospital and a working knowledge of the Florida Mental Health Act ("Baker Act") strongly preferred.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred.

Driver Requirement:

Must have a current Florida Driver's License with a clean driving record while meeting company insurance requirements.

In order to qualify as a Center Driver, the candidate must at least 21 years of age and have an active Florida Driver's license. Motor Vehicle Record will be reviewed for eligibility. No more than 3 moving violations and/or accidents within the past 3 years and no major violations during the past 5 years. Drivers over 65 years old must provide a current doctor's note stating they have no driving limitations.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

Clinical Responsibilities:

  • Conducts screenings of potential clients during scheduled shifts, serving as primary back up to direct care during times of high volume and open shifts.
  • Ensures that necessary safety precautions are taken based on the client's condition and facility policy.
  • Assists in the development, implementation, and evaluation of the treatment plan based on the medical needs identified in the screening assessment. Signs off on treatment plans for assigned staff.
  • Provides effective, accurate, and concurrent documentation.
  • Performs other duties as required to meet program and departmental goals and objectives.
  • Willing to be an active participant in client restraints, as needed
  • Assists and completes discharge plans for clients not admitted to CSU, as well as other functions of discharge planning.
  • Provides clinical guidance regarding client cases and oversight of clinical decision making for staff on shift or during on-call rotation including completing Baker Acts and Marchman Acts, as needed, and making decisions related to non-admissions and appropriate discharge planning.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary meetings to ensure better continuity with inpatient and other Meridian Departments in regards to client care and concerns.

Administrative Responsibilities:

  • Supervises screening staff. Actively hires and trains incoming employees, conducts performance reviews, and provides clinical supervision and professional development of direct report employees. Ensures staff is receiving on-going training as required by the Center and the Department.
  • Completes administrative duties such as approving time sheets, managing PTO, and conducting employee coaching and disciplinary action as needed.
  • Ensures the scheduling of screening staff is sufficient to meet the needs of screening and covers shifts when needed.
  • Participates in Administrator-On-Call (AOC) rotation with other Access and Admissions supervisors and coordinates with other Department leadership around critical incidents that occur during AOC rotation.
  • Monitors compliance. Completes or oversees compliance with AHCA Baker Act and Marchman Act reporting; hospital referral protocols; safety procedures, compliance audits; service errors; authorizations report analysis; and corrections. Coordinates inconsistencies with UR and conducts staff retraining as needed to improve compliance.
  • Conducts monthly team/staff meetings to ensure that all employees have congruent information related to agency and job functions.
  • Conducts monthly peer review audits for clinical quality and compliance feedback and provides feedback to staff.
  • It is expected that a significant amount of work hours will be between the hours of 10am and 2am during times data shows increased screening activity and to ensure connection with staff on all three shifts.
  • Co-facilitates program expectations and protocols with the other Director of Emergency Screening to ensure consistency across locations.
