Job Title: Planner/Estimator

Job Description:

The Planner Estimator role involves estimating man-hours and material requirements for maintenance and repair tasks, managing work orders, implementing cost control procedures, coordinating personnel, and ensuring accurate documentation. This position requires experience in ship maintenance or related military fields, strong organizational skills, and the ability to work effectively in a dynamic environment.

Qualifications:

  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Sufficient knowledge and 2 years' experience of estimating. Preferably in ship maintenance or related military industry.
  • Shipyard experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of Navy ships is beneficial.
  • Former Navy military personnel preferred.

Responsibilities:

  • Collect information on maintenance requirements and estimate man-hours and material required for order requests.
  • Write Repair Request Work Orders and track them through approval and distribution processes.
  • Implement cost control procedures to accurately estimate, execute, and account for tasks performed.
  • Maintain weekly cost and schedule data to assess performance variances.
  • Identify, locate, and tag equipment requested for removal or cannibalization.
  • Develop and maintain subcontract documentation, including solicitations, performance specifications, and subcontractor schedules.
  • Coordinate subcontractor communications and manage their performance.
  • Provide cost projections based on staffing levels and known factors.
  • Keep the Maintenance Department Manager informed of estimate status.
  • Collaborate with the Supply Department for material, subcontractor, and shipping requirements.
  • Review and monitor costed out task orders and material lists.
  • Maintain records of Equipment Removal Data System (ERDS) and Casualty Report (CASREP) removals.
  • Provide regular reports on removal requests, schedules, and funding status.
  • Develop estimates based on government tasking and historical data.
  • Assist Marine Inspectors when required.
  • Ensure timely and accurate correspondence with the Project Manager and the Contacting Officer Representative (COR).
  • Ensure insurance certificates and terms and conditions are in place for subcontractors.
  • Represent the company professionally in all dealings with customers, suppliers, sub-contractors, and government agencies.
  • Adhere to corporate core values, policies, and procedures.
  • Foster a positive and professional working environment with co-workers.
  • Travel as necessary, including international travel, for business purposes.
  • Perform assigned tasks that support other trades or contractual requirements for safe operation and execution.

Requirements:

  • Must show proof of your legal right to work in the United States.
  • This position requires US Citizenship.
  • All candidates must pass a post-offer drug screening and background check.
  • Valid State of Hawaii Driver's license in good standing.
  • Candidates must have access to reliable transportation.

  • Proficiency in using Microsoft Office
  • Ability to use government-provided software.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships.
  • Ability to compose descriptive reports and implement project activities.
  • Ability to provide verbal direction to individuals and groups.

  • Position requires a CONFIDENTIAL Security Clearance.

Physical Demands:

  • The job may involve sitting, standing, walking, bending, stooping, climbing, squatting, kneeling, and driving.
  • Visual acuity and hearing abilities are essential.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to various work environments, both indoors and outdoors.
  • Ability to withstand noise levels and work in extreme heat during summer months.
  • Occasional work alone and significant interaction with customers.
