POSITION SUMMARY


This position will provide finance support & oversight for Baldpate Hub assets (Hess Operated) and Enchilada/Salsa OBO (Operated by other) in the Gulf of Mexico Production Business Unit, the position will also support GOM director admin cost centers for GOM operation team.


The primary responsibilities of this position will be to work with Operation team and various other cross-functional teams to support the asset manager as the primary point of contact for finance support and business analysis. Duties will include coordination of the monthly Forecast and Closing processes, the annual Budget and Plan processes, cost management, and working with the OBO Operators to understand, process, and if necessary, challenge Operator AFEs, billings and forecast.


ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Forecast and Close processes:

  • Work with the Asset Manager/Team to deliver month close and forecast submissions, ensuring that information is accurately prepared, reviewed and approved at appropriate times to meet internal Hess reporting deadlines.
  • Coordinate monthly review and provide detailed analysis to the Business Unit for Production, Capex, Revenues and First Spend.
  • Work with OBO operators and Hess JV Accounting to review and understand the monthly billings, cash calls and forecasts, and ensure that the consequences of operations are appropriately captured in the monthly close and forecast processes.
  • Support Cost Center Owners with monthly forecasting and accrual activities and reviews financials for accuracy and report out.

Budget & Plan processes:

  • Coordinate with the Asset Manager the preparation of internal Budget and Plan for both operated and OBO assets to meet internal submission deadlines and standards.
  • Support offshore team for the various budget planning and preparation activities including but not limited to weekly cost management facilitation, annual cost deep dives, and occasional offshore travel as needed.
  • Participate and provide support to Operational Committee Meetings (OCM) and Annual Operating Plan (AOP) in conjunction with Asset Manager and Commercial guidance, to help maintain partner’s relationship while complying with all required contractual terms.

Control:

  • Facilitate the AFE management process from end to end (preparation, analysis, tracking and close-out), ensuring compliance with partner, Hess process and GOM guidelines.
  • Ensure that there is an appropriate control environment over the disbursement, recording and collection of Hess resources.

Reporting:

  • Provide input into the Monthly Business Review (MBR) document and meeting.
  • Prepare variance commentaries and reporting for Production, Capex, Revenues and First Spend for Actuals-to-Forecast and Actuals-to-Budget comparison periods.
  • Provide supplementary data to Financial Consolidation & Reporting (FC&R) team for use in quarterly investor conference calls.
  • Assist with completion of 10-K statutory reporting & FAS69 submissions to FC&R.
  • Work with internal audit to ensure that all audit queries and findings are addressed and implemented as necessary.


QUALIFICATIONS

Education, Training & Certifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related Business Administration preferred.


Experience

  • 5 years+ of oil and gas accounting experience.
  • Minimum 3 years of forecasting and reporting experience.
  • Good understanding of Commercial process, JV Partner Agreements and COPAS.
  • Practical LEAN experience to drive process transparency and improvements.


Other Skills

  • Focused attention to detail and high standards for quality and accuracy in work products
  • Exceptional PowerPoint and Excel skills required; Experience with SpotFire a plus
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining accuracy
  • Proven team player with excellent interpersonal skills, the ability to communicate with a diverse team and willing to consider and accept other views and concepts in reaching critical decisions.
