Lincoln Park Tennis Association is a private club that also runs public courts for the Chicago Park District. TENNIS is not a requirement of the job, we are looking for a year-round operation manager. Located at the north end of Lincoln Park, we have 6 private and 4 public courts. Our 250 members enjoy the flexible tennis program which operates from May through October each year. In the off season, you will be helping with accounting, board projects, marketing and planning for the next season. It is our expectation there will be longer hours in the summer and a lighter schedule in the winter.

Typical activities in this role include:

• Ensure members, guests and customers have a consistently high quality experience with each visit
• Oversee management of the public courts for customers including the reservation system, collection of court and guest fees.
• Manage tennis pros and staff including scheduling and performance management with adherence to the budget.
• Responsible for monitoring monthly and annual revenue goals
• Assist with bookkeeping in and participate in monthly financial meetings with the club treasurer
• Work with the treasurer and Finance Committee to develop a budget for all operating revenue and expense line items for which this position is accountable
• Ensure timely communication with members including daily updates, weather and court conditions, club events and other key issues/ requests
• Assist Membership Chair in promoting LPTA to all potential candidates including the integration of new members to the Club.
• Oversee the organization, preparation and staffing of all member events
• Maintain strong professional relationships with public group sponsors, tennis pros, children’s groups and long term customers
• Act as the key point of contact for quickly and efficiently hearing and resolving questions, comments and concerns raised by members and customers.
• Conduct marketing activities to generate new members and customers
• Negotiate/ renew contracts with all vendors and schedule maintenance and/ or installation services to ensure readiness for season opening

The General Manager reports directly to the club president to offer a quality tennis experience to the membership and strives to ensure Club operations provide a positive club experience for all members and guests. Providing excellent customer service to encourage repeat business and membership retention is necessary.

Qualified candidates will have past experience in club management or hospitality. You must have leadership experience managing people and budgets. Given the outdoor, physical nature of our facility, the role does require adequate physical fitness and ability to withstand summer heat and exposure to environment changes when working outside. The general manager will have to operate equipment and maintain facilities and courts on occasion.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $48,000.00 - $60,000.00 per year
