Hourly Range:

$24.01 - $32.18

DESCRIPTION

The purpose of this position is to perform research for background investigations, obtain and analyze a suspect’s confidential investigative-intelligence information, and research crime data in order to support investigative, proactive, and operational tactics for the Tempe Police Department to solve, predict, and prevent crime.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Work Experience:

Requires two (2) years of criminal intelligence work experience utilizing law enforcement databases, commercial database, or open-source information for investigative research and/or data collection. Strong typing skills preferred.


Years of experience are based upon a full-time work schedule (2,080 hours per year). The sum of an applicant’s full-time and/or part-time qualifying work experience must meet or exceed the stated minimum qualification. Education will not substitute for the required work experience; however, related unpaid and/or volunteer work experience may be used as qualifying work experience.


Education:

Requires the equivalent to an associate degree in Criminal Justice, Social Sciences, Crime and Intelligence Analysis or closely related field.


The term “equivalent” means that directly related work experience exceeding the required work experience will substitute in equal time increments for college-level education, for example: one year of additional directly related work experience will substitute for one year of college education (30 credit hours).


Certifications, Licenses, and/or Registrations:

Possession of or required to obtain within six (6) months of hire, a Terminal Operator Certification (TOC).


ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

Applicants considered for this job classification must pass the following:

  • Polygraph examination
