Health Promotion Manager Overview
The Health Promotion Program Manager will oversee and manage the Community Health & Wellness Division (CHWD) health promotion program. This position will serve as the primary point of contact (POC) for all HCPH offices and divisions needing to promote CHWD programs. As the liaison and subject matter expert (SME) in health promotion, the individual will work closely with CHWD programs and internal and external stakeholders to promote evidence-based health initiatives, programs, and trainings that lead to improved health outcomes for Harris County residents. Responsible for developing and implementing targeted health promotion initiatives and programs that address health disparities in the community.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement evidence-based health promotion initiatives and programs to improve health outcomes among Harris County residents.
  • Collaborate with other HCPH divisions and departments to promote coordinated and comprehensive approaches to improving the health of Harris County residents.
  • Establish and maintain partnerships with community organizations, healthcare providers, and other stakeholders to enhance the reach and impact of CHWD programs.
  • Develop and implement training programs for community health workers, volunteers, and other stakeholders to promote health literacy and enhance community engagement.
  • Conduct community health assessments to identify health disparities and develop targeted interventions to address them.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of health promotion initiatives and programs and make recommendations for improvement.
  • Develop and implement communication strategies to promote the health promotion program and its initiatives to the community.
  • Develop and manage budgets for the health promotion program and ensure that resources are used effectively and efficiently.
  • Supervise and manage the health promotion program staff to ensure that program goals and objectives are met. Ensure compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and policies.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Education


  • Master's degree in Public Health, Health promotion, or related field
Experience
  • Two (2) years of experience in developing, implementing, and evaluating health promotion initiatives and programs.
  • Experience in personnel management, budget planning and fiscal control.
Licensure
  • Valid Driver's License (Texas upon hire)
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Strong knowledge of evidence-based health promotion practices and strategies.
  • Proficiency in data analysis and program evaluation.

General Information

Position Type, and Typical Hours of Work


  • This is a full-time exempt position. Days and hours of work are typically Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. Must be willing to flex work hours when required, including weekends. Able to travel within Harris County as needed.
Work Environment
  • This position operates in both a professional environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
Physical Demands
  • This role requires the ability to lift, carry, push, pull up to 20 pounds and bending & standing for periods at a time.
