Job description

About Us

Salem Hospital, a member of Mass General Brigham, is the North Shore’s largest healthcare provider and one of its largest employers. We offer comprehensive care and a commitment to exceptional quality, safety and kindness.

In the fall of 2019, we opened a newly renovated, state-of-the-art, 120-bed psychiatric facility. We offer :

  • Inpatient and outpatient services for adults and adolescents over 16, including an adult partial hospital program, ECT therapy, and neuropsychological assessment.
  • Child psychiatry services, which include an adolescent partial hospital program, inpatient, neuropsychological assessment, and outpatient therapy and family support.
  • A dedicated psychiatry program for older adults.

We work closely with Massachusetts General Hospital, McLean Hospital, and Brigham and Women’s Hospital.

General Overview

We are seeking Nurse Practitioners for our Pediatric Inpatient Program, which treats patients age 3 to 17 who are experiencing depression, anxiety, psychiatric disorders, post-traumatic stress disorders, and other behavioral problems with the need for 24-hour care. We use comprehensive psychological assessment and focused treatment interventions to stabilize acute psychiatric crises and help children and their families begin the process of growth and recovery. We run two concurrent groups on our inpatient unit. Age, developmental stage, and presenting problems determine which group is most appropriate for a particular child. In addition, we believe that children need physical activity and fresh air, so as often as possible we go outside as a group, or individually. We incorporate pet therapy, spirituality, music, yoga and other activities into the day!

Location

Inpatient services are provided on a dedicated pediatric floor in our new Epstein Center for Behavioral Health, located at 57 Highland Avenue Salem MA 01970.

Qualifications

NPs will work side-by-side with experienced board-certified psychiatrists; this will allow for both easily accessible supervision as well as a team-based approach to clinical care. We welcome all levels of experience, including new graduates, as on-site supervision is robust!

  • Education: Advanced Practice Nursing Degree from an accredited school with specialization in psychiatric/mental health nursing required
  • Licensure: Current Massachusetts State License as a Registered Nurse Practitioner required
