Job Summary:


The Researcher in our cancer biology laboratory will assist with developing procedures related to tumor prevention using mice models; assist the Principal Investigator with writing and data analysis for manuscripts and future grant applications; and assist and train undergraduate student workers and other visitors to the laboratory.

Responsibilities:

Provides technical expertise to fundamental and/or applied scientific research under the direction of senior research personnel or faculty.
  • 40% Collects and analyzes basic research data, conducts experiments and interviews, and documents results according to established policies and procedures
  • 10% Conducts literature reviews, prepares reports and materials, and disseminates information to appropriate entities and assists with publications
  • 10% Trains individuals and groups on equipment operations, research protocols, and techniques within a specialized laboratory or research area
  • 15% Assists with the development of research methodologies and procedures
  • 5% Identifies concerns and recommends solutions to leadership
  • 15% Assists in developing grant applications and proposals to secure research funding
  • 5% Instrumentation specialist in charge of Environmental Chambers for WIMR campus (in collaboration with director of vivarium)

Education:


Required
PhD
in biomedical research or related field.


Qualifications:


Wet lab experience in a technically related field of study (which includes standard molecular biological techniques, biochemical assays, tissue culture, histology, statistical analysis, data presentation) required.
Willingness to work with mice, where experience with standard mice colony maintenance (including husbandry and genotyping) is preferred.
Willingness to mentor and train undergraduates and other visitors to the laboratory.

It is anticipated this position requires work be performed in-person, onsite, at a designated campus work location.
