Our agency is actively recruiting for three full-time, permanent Community Corrections Officer 2 (CCO2) vacancies within the Community Corrections Division. The three positions report to different offices:
  • One position reports to the Ephrata Field Office located at 229 1st Avenue NW, Ephrata, WA 98823.
  • Two positions report to the Moses Lake Field Office located at 530 Interlake Road, Moses Lake, WA 98837.
Location note: if you live closer to a different DOC Field Office or Community Justice Center, we may be able to work out a plan where you work 2 days offsite and 3 days out of the Ephrata or Moses Lake office. This option may work if there is available space at the secondary office. You will indicate your preference in the supplemental questionnaire. The CCO2 has an in-training plan attached. Depending on your qualifications, you maybe appointed at the CCO1 level or directly at the CCO2 level.

As a CCO2 (or CCO1 In-training), you will have the opportunity to work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders in order to contributes to the agency's mission to improve public safety by supporting the effective supervision and accountability of individuals under agency jurisdiction. Supervision efforts focus on accountability and intervention to enhance and support a safe reentry into the community. Shift hours: 0800-1700 Monday-Friday.

DOC’s partnership with Amend works to bring a health-focused approach to providing correctional staff with additional tools and resources with an emphasis on staff wellness while working to prepare incarcerated individuals and residents to become better neighbors when they return to society.

Reintegration Reimagined: DOC Launches New Community Corrections Model
iCoach (individualized, community-oriented, accountability, collaborative help) launched on March 10, 2023. This new model is backed by the most recent science and is driven by two philosophies: Community Reintegration and Enhanced Supervision. iCoach provides more support and advocacy for those within the criminal justice system earlier in their reentry process.

Duties

  • Supervise individuals ordered to supervision in the community in accordance with Washington State law, Interstate Compact Rules/Regulations, and agency policy within prescribed timeframes.
  • Engage with individuals to work towards positive change.
  • Enforce supervision conditions and the law.
  • Other duties as assigned or needed.

Qualifications

COMMUNITY CORRECTIONS OFFICER 2 LEVEL - REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • One year experience as a Community Corrections Officer within the Washington State Department of Corrections.
  • And you must possess and maintain an unrestricted vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Washington.
OR
  • A Bachelor’s degree from a college or university whose accreditation is recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) or the US Department of Education or foreign equivalent.
  • One year of professional case management** experience in adult or juvenile corrections or closely related field which includes at least three of the following:
    • Making field visits.
    • Writing reports.
    • Assessing cases and making recommendations.
    • Referring people to appropriate resources.
    • Presenting cases in court or hearings.
  • And you must possess and maintain an unrestricted vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Washington.
OR
  • A Master's degree from an accredited institution in sociology, social work, psychology, criminology, or closely related field. This requirement substitutes for the required professional case management experience listed above.
  • And you must possess and maintain an unrestricted vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Washington.
** Professional case management includes activities such as: assessment of risk factors; designing, monitoring and/or facilitating treatment plans; determining and making referrals to resources as appropriate (chemical dependency, substance abuse, family counseling, job training assistance, etc.); maintaining official records and tracking client progress/compliance; and assisting individuals who are unable to independently access support systems or community resources such as those providing food, clothing, or monetary assistance and shelter.

COMMUNITY CORRECTIONS OFFICER 1 LEVEL - REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • A Bachelor’s degree from a college or university whose accreditation is recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) or the US Department of Education or foreign equivalent.
  • And you must possess and maintain an unrestricted vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Washington.
Note: As stated above, this position may be filled at the CCO1 level with a one year in-training plan to a CCO2. The in-training appointment is designated as and runs concurrently with a probation or trial service period. Upon successful completion of the CCO1 training requirements, you will advance to the CCO2 level and will continue with a six month trial service period. Upon completion, you shall gain permanent status as a CCO2. Permanent status is not gained at the CCO1 level.

Special Requirements/Conditions of Employment
If selected for hire, you will be required to meet the following special requirements/conditions of employment:
  • Successful completion of all mandatory training within specified timeframes.
  • Receipt of official, sealed transcripts within the first 30 days of employment.

Telework Details
This position may be allocated for telework for up to one day each week. If approved, work may be performed from your home or another offsite location within the state of Washington using a reliable internet or cellular hot spot service at that time. Employees are expected to perform assigned duties in a safe manner; to take proper care of all state-issued equipment; and maintain confidentiality of all information in possession while working offsite. Employees will be required to commute to a Department of Corrections facility or field office as business requires to potentially include components of the onboarding process. Some offices will have a “drop in” area available, however, a dedicated workspace within a DOC facility may not be provided.
