Your day.

As a Transporter you need to know how to:

• Interact and communicate professionally with patients, family members, nursing, and technical staff.

• Safely transport patients, charts, specimens, and required equipment to various treatment and diagnostic areas throughout the hospital and upon discharge. Communicate transports with nursing staff

Provide emergency assistance to patients who become ill during transport process until clinical staff can be notified and assistance arrives.

• Initiate or assist in transfer process of patients from bed to mode of transportation. Request instruction or assistance from nursing staff for patients who require isolation techniques, two-man lifts, bedpan or restroom assistance, or who has support devices requiring special handling.

• Return patient to bed utilizing proper transfer techniques 100% of the time to avoid injury to patient and/or self. Verify that patient’s basic needs are satisfied upon return to bed.
  

• Return equipment promptly to proper location after use using proper infection control procedures.

Your experience.

• High School Diploma or GED
  
• Must be able to read, write, comprehend, and communicate in the English language
  
• Positive, helpful attitude toward customers
  
• Ability to remain calm in a variety of circumstances
  
• Flexibility and reliability, a team player
• Ability to successfully function in a fast paced, service oriented environment
• Experience in understanding and usage of computers as well as the ability to learn applications relevant to the position
• Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers (BLS-HCP) certification upon hire or obtained within 14 days of hire with prior approval.
• Healthcare experience preferred, but not required
