The American Express Network enables over $1.2 Trillion in annual spend and serves card Issuers and Acquirers in over 170 markets worldwide. The Network Solutions and Operations (NSO) team operates the Network with the highest levels of performance, security, and integrity; and is supporting Network coverage expansion by onboarding new Network Issuers and Acquirers, as well as launching our new Network in China. The NSO team is also driving a strategic, multi-year transformation to modernize the Network crafting innovative products, services, and capabilities that will anticipate the needs of customers by enabling more types of payments.


How will you make an impact in this role?


We are seeking a Token Services Senior Product Manager based in New York. This Product Manager will be part of the team that is responsible for defining the long-term plan for Token Services, including the exploration of new token use cases, defining product strategy, influencing payments industry bodies, and driving implementation with cross-functional teams. This will be done through internal partnership and an external focus on industry innovation activities.


  • Identify, explore, and assess emerging and ground-breaking business opportunities/use cases with high relevance to loyalty and emerging token form factors

  • Leverage external and internal data and insights to design new products and experiences for target customers/segments

  • Collaborate with analytics and finance to build business financial cases for new products

  • Define business requirements and lead envisioning with partner stakeholder teams

  • Coordinate and lead internal forums, steering committees, and working group meetings, ensuring key stakeholders are engaged and are brought along in the journey

  • Represent network interests in leading industry forums

  • Proactively and continuously evaluate industry trends, competitor products and communicate learnings to the broader team


Minimum Qualifications

  • Demonstrated critical thinking ability. Self-starter who can innovate and ideate in white-space, challenge the status quo, and build consensus for key initiatives.

  • Passionate about emerging technology and innovation – able to succinctly describe the latest trends and provide thought leadership on their relevance to American Express

  • High level of comfort with data and analytics, with experience using data to drive decision making and product improvement

  • A passion for understanding and solving for customer needs.

  • Intellectual curiosity: A consultant mentality with the ability to distill ideas, connect the dots from across multiple business topics, organize the information and tell a story.

  • Strong external and internal partnership skills; proven track record to partner with executives a plus.

  • Ability to communicate effectively at all levels, including concise verbal and written executive-level communications

  • Project management skills and ability to drive business results independently.

  • High energy and an optimistic attitude

  • Strong ability to stay connected to remote partners and stakeholders


Preferred Qualifications

  • Preferred experience with payments

Salary Range: $80,000.00 to $155,000.00 annually + bonus + benefits
